چکیده

Abstract Superhydrophobicity is usually achieved by a combination of chemical hydrophobicity and surface topography due to an inability attain complete non-wetting on the smooth existing materials. Here, we experimentally report high condensation-induced droplets with contact angles approaching 180° suspended monolayer graphene. Such highly are found graphene open water vapour saturated environment both sides. Simultaneous observations condensing multilayer supported demonstrates that this behaviour may be unique These results anticipate interactions between liquid molecules across isolated from bulk substrate induce beyond possible hydrophobic or atomically flat surfaces.

Evaporation - induced non - wetting droplets on superhydrophilic surfaces

A droplet deposited on a rough, lyophilic surface satisfying the imbibition condition, results in spontaneous spreading and hence complete wetting. However, in this thesis, we demonstrate that this wetting behavior can be altered by superheating the substrate such that droplets can reside in a non-wetting state due to evaporation. Photolithography and deep reactive ion etching were used to fabr...

Approaching ballistic transport in suspended graphene.

The discovery of graphene raises the prospect of a new class of nanoelectronic devices based on the extraordinary physical properties of this one-atom-thick layer of carbon. Unlike two-dimensional electron layers in semiconductors, where the charge carriers become immobile at low densities, the carrier mobility in graphene can remain high, even when their density vanishes at the Dirac point. Ho...

Suspended monolayer graphene under true uniaxial deformation.

2D crystals, such as graphene, exhibit the higher strength and stiffness of any other known man-made or natural material. So far, this assertion has been primarily based on modelling predictions and on bending experiments in combination with pertinent modelling. True uniaxial loading of suspended graphene is not easy to accomplish; however such an experiment is of paramount importance in order ...
